Bartłomiej Dobrowolski was born on 19th October 1994 in Oświęcim. He started his musical education on clarinet at the age of 10 in Primary Music School in Oświęcim. After completion he started studying in Music High School in Katowice. His teacher was Maciej Niewiara. After finish it with distinction in 2013 he started his studies at Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice in class of professor Arkadiusz Adamski. He is continuing his studies on PhD programme in the same Academy. During his musical education he was participating in several competitions gaining numerous prices. Most important of them are:

  • Second Prize at IX Clarinet Festival (2011 Piotrków Trybunalski, Poland);

  • Third Prize at V West Pomeranian Clarinet Festival (2012 Szczecin, Poland);

  • Third Prize at IX International Competition "Wind Instruments" (2012 Jastrzębie Zdrój, Poland);

  • First Prize at II International Woodwinds Instruments Competition (2013 Warsaw, Poland);

  • First Prize at X Clarinet Festival (2013;Piotrków Trybunalski, Poland);

  • Second Place at High School Solo Competition (2013 Assisi, Italy);

  • Second Prize and Honour Distinction at VI West Pomeranian Clarinet Festival (2014 Szczecin, Poland)

  • Third Reward and the Statue at 8th Michał Spisak International Music Competition (2014 Dąbrowa Górnicza, Poland);

  • Third Prize, the Special Prize from Rector of Academy of Art in Szczecin and Second Prize in chamber category at VII West Pomeranian Clarinet Festival (2016 Szczecin, Poland);

  • Fourth Prize at III Chamber Tournament “In three views” (2016, Bydgoszcz, Poland);

  • First Prize at International Competition „21st Century Art” (2016, Trencin, Slovakia);

  • Third Prize at International Competition EMONA 2018 (2018, Lublana, Slovenie);

  • Second Prize in chamber music category at VIII West Pomeranian Clarinet Festival (2018 Szczecin, Poland);

  • First Prize at V International Chamber Music Competition in Bydgoszcz (2018 Poland);

  • Third Prize at 51. Karol Kurpiński National Competition for Young Clarinetists (2018 Włoszakowice, Poland);

  • Second Prize, Special Prize Musica Solis, D’Addario Woodwinds Special Prize at International Clarinet Contest during VIII European Clarinet Congress (2018 Győr, Węgry).

He was improving his skills during masterclasses with such artists as: Paul Meyer, Gabor Varga, Florent Heau, Jorge Montilla, Nuno Pinto, Karel Dohnal, Philippe Berrod, Arkadiusz Adamski, Mieczysław Stachura, Andrzej Janicki, Igor Frantisak, Daniel Ottensamer.

As a chamber musician he cooperates with such artists as Arkadiusz Adamski, Magdalena Duś, Agata Zubel. He is also member of chamber ensembles as: clarinet quartet and clarinet trio with cello and piano which is gaining many successes at international festivals.

Bartłomiej is an active clarinetist performing solo concerts with many orchestras as: Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra, Zabrze Philharmonic Orchestra, Inter>CAMERATA Chamber Orchestra, Wind Orchestra of Academy of Music in Katowice playing with such conductors as: Jose Maria Florencio, Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk, Jan Jakub Bokun, Sławomir Chrzanowski, Grzegorz Mielimąka.

As an orchestral musician he cooperates with Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra, AUKSO Chamber Orchestra, Rybnik Philharmonic Orchestra, Contemporary Music Orchestra in Katowice, Academic Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, Lusławice Academy Orchestra, Wind Orchestra of Academy of Music in Katowice (where he is a concertmaster) conducted by: Tadeusz Strugała, Antoni Wit, Jose Maria Florencio, Grzegorz Mielimąka, Michał Klauza, Krzesimir Dębski, Marek Moś.

He  was taking part in several music festivals as: 4th International Clarinet Congress in Katowice 2014, Lusławice Academy Orchestra 2013, World Music Days in Wrocław 2014, Opening Festival of new Concert Hall of PNRSO in Katowice 2014, Musikfestspiele Saar in Saarbrucken 2015, International Festival Moravian Autumn 2013, Festival “Katowice Culture-Nature 2015, X International Festival of G.G. Gorczycki 2015, Aukso Young Philharmonic 2015, Trenčianska Hudobná Jeseň 2016, Organ Plus 2016, International Festival of Competitions’ Laureates 2014, 2017.

Bartłomiej Dobrowolski is a laureate of scholarship program of Ministry of Culture and National Heritage “Young Poland” (2015) and scholarship for the best students at Academy of Music in Katowice (2014-2018).
