MARTA MOŁODYŃSKA-WHEELER

A pianist, chamber musician and synaesthete who graduated with honours from the Academy of Music in Krakow in the piano class of Prof. Marek Koziak and the Academy of Music in Katowice in the Faculty of Jazz and Contemporary Music in the class of Composition and Arrangement of Prof. Andrzej Zubek. Also, a graduate of the Vocal and Acting Faculty at the Academy of Music in Krakow under the direction of Prof. Katarzyna Oleś-Blacha. In addition, she graduated with honours from the Institute of English Studies of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. In 2017 she was awarded a PhD in musical arts, and the doctoral thesis focused on the influence of synaesthesia on the interpretation of musical pieces.

As a pianist she has participated in many music festivals in Poland and abroad such as, among others, The Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Also she has been an accompanist during numerous vocal competitions such as: Stanislaw Moniuszko International Vocal Competition in Warsaw, Ada Sari International Festival and Competition of Vocal Art,  Adam Didur International Competition for Opera Singers, Andrew Hiolski International Vocal Competition in Kudowa-Zdroj, International Vocal Competition Iuventus Canti in Vrable (Slovakia), J. E. J. Reszke Vocal Competition  in Częstochowa.

She is an author of numerous musical pieces for big bands and a string orchestra. She has performed, among others, with the Symphony Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Krakow, Krakow Opera Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra of the Polish Radio. Moreover, she has performed the works of young composers in the studio of Radio Krakow. In May 2008, she made a recording with the Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw.

In the field of the English language she used to be a lecturer at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and also taught English to both children and adults at various language courses. In the field of music she is a pianist-accompanist at the Academy of Music in Krakow. She also cooperates with the Krakow Opera, and a few ensembles of chamber music. In addition, she is a piano teacher in W. Żeleński Secondary School of Music in Krakow. What's more, she is a member of a few pop and rock bands that play both their own music as well as covers. Also she composes and records her own music.
